1.1PTS 1.161Atha kho vacchagotto paribbājako yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṁ sammodi. Then the wanderer Vacchagotta went up to the Buddha, and exchanged greetings with him.1.2Sammodanīyaṁ kathaṁ sāraṇīyaṁ vītisāretvā ekamantaṁ nisīdi. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbājako bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:When the greetings and polite conversation were over, he sat down to one side and said to the Buddha:

1.3“sutaṁ metaṁ, bho gotama, samaṇo gotamo evamāha:“I have heard, worthy Gotama, that the ascetic Gotama says this:1.4‘mayhameva dānaṁ dātabbaṁ, nāññesaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ;‘Gifts should only be given to me, not to others.1.5mayhameva sāvakānaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ, nāññesaṁ sāvakānaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ;Gifts should only be given to my disciples, not to the disciples of others.1.6mayhameva dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ, nāññesaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ;Only what is given to me is very fruitful, not what is given to others.1.7mayhameva sāvakānaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ, nāññesaṁ sāvakānaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalan’ti.Only what is given to my disciples is very fruitful, not what is given to the disciples of others.’1.8Ye te, bho gotama, evamāhaṁsu ‘samaṇo gotamo evamāha:1.9“mayhameva dānaṁ dātabbaṁ, nāññesaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ.1.10Mayhameva sāvakānaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ, nāññesaṁ sāvakānaṁ dānaṁ dātabbaṁ.1.11Mayhameva dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ, nāññesaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ.1.12Mayhameva sāvakānaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ, nāññesaṁ sāvakānaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalan”’ti.

1.13Kacci te bhoto gotamassa vuttavādino na ca bhavantaṁ gotamaṁ abhūtena abbhācikkhanti, dhammassa cānudhammaṁ byākaronti, na ca koci sahadhammiko vādānupāto gārayhaṁ ṭhānaṁ āgacchati?I trust those who say this repeat what the worthy Gotama has said, and do not misrepresent him with an untruth? Is their explanation in line with the teaching? Are there any legitimate grounds for rebuttal and criticism?1.14Anabbhakkhātukāmā hi mayaṁ bhavantaṁ gotaman”ti.For we don’t want to misrepresent the worthy Gotama.”

2.1“Ye te, vaccha, evamāhaṁsu:“Vaccha, those who say this2.2‘samaṇo gotamo evamāha:2.3“mayhameva dānaṁ dātabbaṁ …pe…2.4nāññesaṁ sāvakānaṁ dinnaṁ mahapphalan”’ti2.5na me te vuttavādino.
