1.1“Natthi koci bhavo nicco,No life is permanent,1.2saṅkhārā vāpi sassatā;and no conditions last forever.1.3Uppajjanti ca te khandhā,The aggregates are reborn1.4cavanti aparāparaṁ.and pass away, again and again.

2.1Etamādīnavaṁ ñatvā,Knowing this danger,2.2bhavenamhi anatthiko;I have no need for another life.2.3Nissaṭo sabbakāmehi,I’ve escaped all sensual pleasures,2.4patto me āsavakkhayo”ti.and attained the ending of defilements.

2.5Itthaṁ sudaṁ āyasmā uttaro thero gāthāyo abhāsitthāti.That is how these verses were recited by the senior venerable Uttara.
