1.1“Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato ariyasāvako sotāpanno hoti avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇo.“Mendicants, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening.

2.8Idamavoca bhagavā.That is what the Buddha said.2.9Idaṁ vatvāna sugato athāparaṁ etadavoca satthā:Then the Holy One, the Teacher, went on to say:

3.1“Yassa saddhā tathāgate,“Whoever has faith in the Realized One,¹3.2acalā suppatiṭṭhitā;unwavering and well grounded;3.3Sīlañca yassa kalyāṇaṁ,whose ethical conduct is good,3.4ariyakantaṁ pasaṁsitaṁ.praised and loved by the noble ones;

4.1Saṅghe pasādo yassatthi,who has confidence in the Saṅgha,4.2ujubhūtañca dassanaṁ;and correct view:4.3Adaliddoti taṁ āhu,they’re said to be prosperous,4.4amoghaṁ tassa jīvitaṁ.their life is not in vain.

5.1Tasmā saddhañca sīlañca,So let the wise devote themselves5.2pasādaṁ dhammadassanaṁ;to faith, ethical behaviour,5.3Anuyuñjetha medhāvī,confidence, and insight into the teaching,5.4saraṁ buddhānasāsanan”ti.remembering the instructions of the Buddhas.”
