1.1“Atthāya vata me buddho,It was truly for my benefit1.2nadiṁ nerañjaraṁ agā;that the Buddha went to the Nerañjara River.1.3Yassāhaṁ dhammaṁ sutvāna,When I heard his teaching,1.4micchādiṭṭhiṁ vivajjayiṁ.I shunned wrong view.

2.1Yajiṁ uccāvace yaññe,I used to perform a diverse spectrum of sacrifices;2.2aggihuttaṁ juhiṁ ahaṁ;I served the sacred flame,2.3‘Esā suddhī’ti maññanto,imagining, “This is purity.”2.4andhabhūto puthujjano.I was a blind, ordinary person.

3.1Diṭṭhigahanapakkhando,Caught in the thicket of wrong view,3.2parāmāsena mohito;deluded by misapprehension.3.3Asuddhiṁ maññisaṁ suddhiṁ,Thinking impurity was purity,3.4andhabhūto aviddasu.I was blind and ignorant.

4.1Micchādiṭṭhi pahīnā me,I’ve abandoned wrong view;4.2bhavā sabbe padālitā;all rebirths are shattered.4.3Juhāmi dakkhiṇeyyaggiṁ,I serve the fire for those <j>worthy of a religious donation:4.4namassāmi tathāgataṁ.I bow to the Realized One.

5.1Mohā sabbe pahīnā me,I’ve given up all delusion;5.2bhavataṇhā padālitā;craving for continued existence is shattered;5.3Vikkhīṇo jātisaṁsāro,transmigration through births is finished;5.4natthi dāni punabbhavo”ti.now there’ll be no more future lives.
